Basic First Aid and CPR Class - May 14th

A lay rescuer CPR and first aid certification class will be offered by the Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, May 14th, at the LDS Church, 14211 Twin Peaks Rd., Poway.  The cost for 2 Yr.Certification (approved through the Emergency Medical Services Authority of California)  $55 per person.    

Those attending this course will receive a certification card.  This class is for the general public and not professional health care providers.  The minimum participating age is 12 yrs.  AB-CPR requires that the maximum class size be no more than 25 participants and no fewer than 10.

You must be prepaid in order to take this course.  Walk-Ins will not be able to participate due to advance materials that need to be ordered and readied for each participant.

The skills covered in the CPR portion are

  • adult, child, & infant (pediatric) CPR,
  • choking for the conscious and unconscious victim, and
  • Demonstration of Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

In our First Aid portion, you will learn the importance of proper patient assessment. After a thorough evaluation of the patient, you will learn skills such as:

  • bleeding control,
  • immobilization of fractures, strains, and sprains,
  • burn care,
  • care for shock, and
  • how to care for many medical emergencies such as Asthma, Diabetics, Seizures, Anaphylactic shock, and many more.

The approval status of the EMSA satisfies the needs of daycare providers and meets OSHA requirements.
