Certification Course

Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC)  is offering a new lay rescuer CPR and First-Aid Certification course, to be held on Saturday, January 18th, from 9am till noon. the LDS Church, 14211 Twin Peaks Rd., Poway, CA 92064.

Cost is $65 per person for the 2 year certification which is approved through the Emergency Medical Services Authority(EMSA) of California.

Those attending this course  will receive a certification card.  The minimum participating age is 12 yrs.  This class is for the general public and its approval status satisfies rquirements for daycare providers, Bus Drivers, trainers, coaches, school teachers, constructions workers and meets OSHA standards.

**This course is not for professional health care providers**

The skills covered in the CPR portion are:

  • Adult, child, & infant (pediatric) CPR,
  • Choking for the conscious and unconscious victim, and
  • Demonstration of Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

In our First Aid portion you will learn the importance of proper patient assessment. After a thorough evaluation of the patient you will learn skills such as:

  • Bleeding control,
  • Immobilization of fractures, strains, and sprains,
  • Burn care,
  • Care for shock, and
  • How to care for many medical emergencies such as Asthma, Diabetics, Seizures, Anaphylactic shock, and many more.
